Should a Bronze Certified Power Supply cover overclocking for me?

So recently I purchased parts for a Budget gaming PC The Specs are:

 

Pentium G3258

R9 270X TurboDuo

8GB Kingston 1600Mhz RAM

ASUS H81M-E Motherboard

 

I got a Corsair CX450W Power Supply Bronze Certified. I want to Overclock my CPU to 4.5Ghz and one of my friends told me I will probably need a Gold Certified PSU in order to do that. I don't mind getting a Gold one but I would rather not go through the hassle of sending it back and waiting for a new one to arrive. So would I be able to overclock my CPU with that PSU or will I definitely need to upgrade?

Absolutely horseshit that you need a gold. Stability is what give better OC's when it comes to PSU's, not efficiency. The CX450 is enough

Certification does not make a difference to overclocks.

That and the "cleanness" of the power being delivered.

just for your information, bronze silver gold and platinum are only the levels of efficiency reached by the PSU, and have nothing to do with components quality, or cleanness of power

Only to the extent of having enough to actually power the CPU during 100% loads. A quality 450W and a quality 1200W will not see a difference in OC'ing potential. Ripple and things like that determine it more than wattage

If OP has a 300W vs 450W PSU he would not be able to overclock.

If he had a 80+ bronze 450W vs 80+ gold 450W he would be able to overclock on both with no issues.

If OP has a 300W vs 450W PSU he would not be able to overclock.

If he had a 80+ bronze 450W vs 80+ gold 450W he would be able to overclock on both with no issues.

Which is why I said only to the extent of having enough to actually power the CPU (insinuated also with OC's). After that wattage is useless for OC
