Random black screen with computer still running

Exother

Hi guys, I've been getting random black screen even when my computer is booting up at the bios page. I have swope the rams, reformatted, updated drivers and revert to default clock settings for both CPU and GPUs.

Tentatively, im running on the onboard graphics and everything seems to be fine ATM(not too sure in the future). However, when I am running from my graphics card, everything seems to go haywire. Is there any recommendation or feedbacks? ): Really dreading about this.

by what you have stated so far the graphics card seems to be getting old and may have kicked the bucket, this is backed up by the fact that it is a 5770 which is a 5 year old design. If you have a friend that has an AMD graphics card you could try to see if that works in your system but so far everything seems to point towards a dead card.

Yea, kinda agreeing that graphics card is dead. My friends own mainly Nvidia cards and some of them which owns AMD, are too inconvenient for me drive to. ):

Is there any other test i could do to have a confirmation?

You could try one of your friends Nvidia cards, see if the same issue occurs. That would rule out any issues with the mobo's PCI slots, that would also mean that the card is indeed faulty. Make sure you uninstall all AMD drivers first before installing the nvidia card.

Is there other troubleshooting I'm able to do before having the hassle of borrowing their cards?

Hmmmmm, when you boot with the card installed, your screen always stays black correct? You don't see an image anymore?

Nope, if I boot with the card, my screen can just go black randomly, could happen when I game, just surfing normally and even sometimes before my Windows even fully boot up or at the mobo manufacturer page.

I have the same issue but it's always my left monitor. Which narrows it down to the screen itself or the port on the card but swap cards all the time. So maybe a cable even.

So guys I've ended up ordering a new gpu from an online retailer. My computer seems to be running fine with onboard. Therefore I doubt there's an issue with rams and mobo. Hopefully I'm not wrong

Let us know if the new GPU has the same result as the other one did.

Alright sure. Btw I ordered a Sapphire Dual-X R9 280 3GB GDDR5 OC with Boost (UEFI). Hopes everything goes well. Read some reviews online about its pros and cons. However i realize that many reviewers are actually not being frank about the most undesirable drawback which is tha fan noise. They chose to avoid discussion about it and went away with its topic.
