Does anyone know when the Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 with 8Gb of GDDR5 memory will be released?

Didn't know that was a thing O_o

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Nvidia and their partners, if anybody else knows they're under NDA.

Many people have said that; that rumor has been debunked and a 8GB card won't ever come out, straight from nvidia that is, nvidia's board partners will probably release one very soon.

I'd rathing be waiting on GM200 or AMD's next highend chip, because even with 8GB VRAM the GTX980 will lack raw computing power to make full use of so much VRAM. That's the reason you won't see this from nVidia.

Sure maybe the boardpartners will bring that, but the question will be, if the extra on the price of the card will be worth it.

The e-tailer overclockers.co.uk already got in contact with multiple nvidia board partners, and they all said there was no plans to make an 8gb variant.

8 pack and a few other officials over on their forums had a huge post about it.

Unless AMD does something crazy with the 390x, I doubt they'll do anything, and if they do, it'll probably be a whole new card with 8gb instead of 8gb 980s.

does anyone think nvidia will bring out a new titan or 980 ti ?

If the 390x is crazy good I guarantee they will, if it's a let down, ehhh maybe not. They'll probably wait until AMD does something first.

Even with the GM200 being a good chip, it will get really interesting when nVidia will release Pascal in 2016 with 16nm architecture. This could be the first time ever that 4K is playable with good FPS in high settings with one card.
