S3 Neo installing custom roms

Laurysss

So I am buying a s3 neo 19300I and I want cm 11 on it cuz touchwiz is kind off not my style. Is it safe to install a custom rom? What if I brick it ? What about this "KNOX"? They can probably easly trace that I installed custom firmware. But can I really brick it to where I have to take it to the store? Or I can fix that ? I live in Europe so its a normal version of the s3 neo not some duos ,lte or whatever.

installing custom roms can only soft brick your phone. This means it can be repaired by the user. I dont know about "KNOX" but you can only hard brick a phone if you try flashing whatever Samsungs equivalent is to a bootloader. So youre safe if youre just flashing things in a custom recovery. However nothings certains so be careful

But I dont need any bootloader stuff to install custom recovery? Atleast the guides not mention anything.

i know. im just saying what a hard and soft brick is. As long as you make sure the rom and kernel is for your exact device you should be fine

hello . your i9300i doesn`t have an official CM11 OS. only the i9300 ,i9305 and d2lte

the only cm11 for the s3 neo is from xda and its unnoficial  http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-neo/orig-development/cyanogenmod-11-s3-neo-gt-i9301i-t2917015

go ahead and install it if you want but i would just use nova launcher

also if you will buy a newer phone than the s3 don`t put cyanogen on it. you lose a lot of fuctions. its like putting cm11 on a note 3/4. half of the phone is wasted

But still the launcher doesnt replace the UI. I like the statusbar much mroe from stock kitkat.
