Heyo, As you read in the title i obviously don't want windows 8 so heres the problem, I'm going to buy a pre-built pc off pc case gear (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1411&products_id=29700) and sadly it comes with windows 8 now my question is can i change that to windows 7 or when they say pre-built they mean they we're built a month ago with everything already installed

Windows 8.1 is better than Windows 7, once you get used to it you'll likely like it more.

Change is good, you don't have to stick with Windows 7 your whole life.

Download a start button and disable all the crap done.

But you are better off by building the pc yourself or let a webshop assamble it for you and then you can install windows 7 yourself and save some bucks.

Why in the world would you overpay almost 600 buck for that pc?

I built the exact same pc but couldn't find the case look at the differenc in price oh and I included Windows 7

Yes you can but it will require you to buy the Windows 7 OS (Or pirate it but you should just buy it) and install that one and delete the Windows 8 partition.

Personally I enjoy windows 8 way more than 7. I always hated 7.

Add-on: I'm actually surprised there are this many people off the bat defending Windows 8. Normally people foam at the mouth at the mere mention of 8.

Knowledge is power, guard it well.

Everyone hated it until they started using it.  It has faster start times and better performance.  And after microsoft realized that most of their customers were desktop users, they changed the program for the better.  And yes, their is also classic start.

I also never gave a shit about the start button. Any program I wanted to use was on my lower bar and I could access most anything by hovering my mouse to the top left corner and just searching for it or accessing the control panel via the start screen. It felt more smooth than Windows 7 and my Windows 7 had a few errors that made it hate me and never recognize me as the admin or screw with the security.

Almost any website that sells hardware will do it for you or a local computer shop.

You can run everything in desktop mode that's essentially a better Windows 7. Somethings I keep on the tablet style AKA the "Start screen." because I like to keep my shit organized.

For that price? Because most of the places you listed are america based.

That's just about 1,700 AUD with just conversion. And with all of those parts, from PCCG, buying all of those parts individually would cost $1 less than the pre-built w/o shipping, and in fact costs $8 more with shipping included.

*Keep in mind that shipping is obviously bound to change where you live, but the pre-built will be cheaper than buying all the components individually unless you pick it up in-store.*

Be sure to pay attention to the country and currency the OP uses.

And anyways, there is a pretty big difference between "almost $600" and $415.

@Varial If you're completely happy with that build and the only gripe you have against it is the inclusion of Windows 8, and you're not confident with building PCs (which tbh isn't that difficult), than I think it'd be perfectly fine.

Does he really have to?

When I tried Windows 8 it wasnt nearly as good as you guys say. I admit the start times are big plus.

Ill just name a few problems I had with it.

1) Customization (dark theme - font color problem in the window title)

2) Some settings that were easily accessible in W7 are nowhere to be found or scattered all over in W8

3) Compatibility (I guess most of the problems are fixed by now)

Windows 8 is just Windows 7 made a lot smoother and with the metro interface instead of start, you also have better built-in apps.

The Windows 8 hate train is just annoying

You could contact them (PCCG) and see if they'll build for you, or see if they can put Win 7 instead of 8 (if you really want it)

It's not really smoother if you want to change settings.  They split the settings randomly between control panel, personalization, etc.  I had it launching to the live tiles for about a month before I figured out how to have it launch to the desktop. (although now you find out how by going online)
