New website proposal - Would you use it?

NeatSquidYT

Hi,

So I am not a big fan of using PCPP to display your build. For me, it doesn't show enough info for me to use it a lot (e.g. overclocks, voltages etc.). My proposal is that I create a website that you can put all of your specs on, and then share it using a unique link BUTT WEIGHT you can put in your CPU voltage and clock speed/turbo boost! You can also put in your graphics card memory and base overclock! Also, you can put in any sort of case modifications you have made in a notes area! I am also thinking of possibly having a bit where you can upload images, but I'm planning on making this free.

Any suggestions? Also, a poll vote would be nice.

Thanks :D

Prototype design made in Paint (will be more full fledged, but this is so people can understand):

Given the time and support, I would at least try.

It'd be nice if say you were buying an i7, it'd be handy to see how far they overclocked it to and at what voltage.

You can't say what you've overclocked each part to, although you can do a build loggy type thing, but that's not always convenient.

I mean, now it's just an idea I'm toying around with. Would there be any features you would like?

Sounds like a niché and cool idea, I'd say!

hehe, thanks. You're sort of my inspiration for this whole thing. After seeing what you can do (I know you're an experienced designer), I've sort of aspired to do a big project.

No, I'll whip up a Paint design in a min. May be easier for people to understand.

I think the photo idea is a nice touch, I guess I am more interesting in seeing a spec list and seeing the actual computer set up, rather than reading a list of voltages

And just a general better cleaner layout than PPP

Yeah, that's my idea really. I've never liked PCPP. I could always add an images part at the bottom for people to link their images to.

Yeah, I was thinking of asking Linus if he could help. I'll also use stackoverflow for some stuff, I personally don't think this forum is amazing for the programming section, it takes a while to get a reply.

Make it less confusing for first time builders. The first time I used pcpp it was very confusing. Now it isn't, but the learning curve could drive people away.

Good idea. This is mostly for people who already have built their PC, but some sort of tutorial bit could be cool.

You should also have a review system built into the website and not taken from external websites like Amazon. The reviews would be more useful than.

I'll certainly consider it. I don't know about the execution however.

BTW, this is like pre-alpha, so I know it looks terrible.

Any suggestions on the right side layout? I was thinking buttons, but I don't know how that'd work.
