Need help understanding this most likely rookie question

Xtreme Gamer

Can you SLI a regular and TI grade GPU? If so/not, which do you guys recommend for gtx 660 SLI?

Ignore the pricing that you see of the 2 cards.

You cannot.

I wouldn't recommend a  660 SLI at this point, but if you must the Gigabyte GPU would be the better choice (as well as the aesthetic choice)

You might as well sell your current 660 and buy a decent GPU.

"A GeForce GTX 660 Ti GPU must be paired with another GeForce GTX 660 Ti GPU (graphics card manufacturer can be different)."

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-660ti/specifications

Though 660s SLI are decent; they aren't super-high end, but they'll get the job done.  What's the model of your current 660?

(I prefer Gigabyte as well, since their cooling is astonishing)

You can get a better card for $200, especially if you save up.

No, GPUs must be same tier.

From your links, Gigabyte because EVGA has not got very good cooling design on that card.

@Laederem , u can get a looooooot better GPU nowadays for your $200 (GTX 760, R9 280) and best way would be to sell your 660 and buy R9 290 or GTX 970

No you cannot.

I would recommend just selling your current 660 and just getting a cheap R9 280 or pay a bit more to get a GTX 970, but if you have to get another 660 then I would recommend Gigabyte.

They're pretty lowly at this point, and it doesn't make sense dropping almost 200$ on a 660 when the 970 and 290 are so cheap.

Thing is, is that I dont have the money for anything higher than 660 and I've always wanted to SLI since I've heard of it.

But how is the cooler design so bad?

if you want to go sli that's up to you, I use(when at dads house) 460 sli and they work great for 1080p on any game, so get what makes you happy.

I do recommend selling the 660 and getting a better card but stick to what makes you happy. :)

Well its only one fan cooling the GPU vs 2 fans on gigabyte. So that one fan has to do more work. Especially when its closed design where air can get out from one side. The fan has to push all that air out. Gigabyte has better heat dissipation.
