New Computer - Old Hard drive

Benana101

Hey guys, just have one quick question.

I am getting a new computer on Monday that I am building myself, I am going to be putting the hard drive out of my current PC into the new one. My current PC has Windows 8 running on it and the new computer is going to have Windows 8.1, when I put the Hard drive into the new computer will my files be there? Or will i need to re-install everything?

Thanks

May cause issues with system bios and drivers.  I tried doing that with a system once, it didn't work well.  I'd recommend getting a new HDD, they aren't to expensive after all, or booting from USB until you can save for one if you don't mind long boot times.

@thekeemo   What is bad about it?

1. the drivers are all messed up

2. its probably fragmented

3. most of the files you have you probably dont need and will only clutter up the HDD

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

@thekeemo Yesterday I went through it and got rid of everything that I don't need, also what do you mean about the drivers?

Okay... let's say I clear the hard drive and put it into my new computer, it's nice and fresh. Will I need to format it, because if I don't have to i'll just do that
