main difference is that pro is suppose to last longer, hence 10 year warranty vs. 3 year warranty

The 840 Pro is faster than the 840 EVO but it shouldn't be noticeable in day-to-day tasks.  The Pro is also supposed to last longer than the EVO.

I would just go for whichever one is cheaper.

10 years is for the 850 Pro, not the 840.

I'd go for EVO if I was you.

Also after 3 years or some sort, will get a new SSD whichever is best at that time.

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

Pro has MLC nand, Evo has TLC, both have survived long term testing.  The Pro has reached in house testing at Samsung up to a petabyte from what I remember, and the Evo is around 120tb worth of life in it if I recall.  Most SSD's live longer than their warranty(except for the -old- OCZ's and Crucial m4's), but between the two - Crucial MX100 is similar in performance to the Pro, survives around 74tb(if you don't write to it a crap ton it'll last forever), and it's cheaper than the Evo by a few dollars.  Also has a few more gigs in it, so that's something ^^

He should have. But he didn't.  ;)

Crucial MX100 is similar in performance to the Pro,

Closer to the Evo actually. In Benchmarks slower than both Pro and Evo - in real life user's experience... probably no difference.
