Overkill?

Go to solution Solved by Benji_w,

Oh ok thanks so much and just to make sure 6 rads would be overkill right?

If you want it to be quiet the more rad space you have the lower the rpm fans you can use meaning less noise, I doubt it will be overkill cos is you have all that rad space you will just end up overclocking all your hardware until it uses them.

Would you say that 6 radiators 480mm with pull-push for a I7-5960x and quad SLI Zotac GTX 980 AMP Extreme, 64 GB of DDR4 2377 mhz would be overkill cause this my so far build? The inside fans will be noctua and the outside ones Corsair 120 sp Blue. Thanks for the help in advance  :D

Unless you plan on playing at 4k with highest possible settings (still not a good idea)/serious professional work then yes it's overkill.

welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forums!

yes, it'd be major overkill and the wild fan choice for push/pull is counter-productive.

could be easily cooled by 2x 480x 60 or 3x 360x 60. the 900-series are very cool

running. unless you are looking to do some major voltage tweaks to the GPU the

other radiators are for E-PEEN.

Hmm ok, well in regards to your question given we have no idea what your case is or how it's going to be laid out etc, going to be tough in helping answer said question. As for 6 rads in push/pull, wasting your time, with that amount of rad space you wouldn't need to do that unless you plan on using really poorly optimised and cheap fans.

Dont use two different types of fans on a single rad, that's not at all advisable.

Also don't use push/pull unless you're using an absurdly thick rad. It has no real tangible benefits

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it
