Why was Folding removed from PS3?

Hi,

I remember I'm 2008 there was a folding app, and I didn't know what it was. It's only now I realise what it was, but why was it removed years ago?

Probably because it made it work at high loads, causing high heat, damaging the components, making them RMA and whatnot. That, and they hate user freedom.

My PS3 is just sitting there doing nothing, does anyone know if there is a work around to install it still?

Sony where shutting down the Life with Playstation service which included folding@home.

Folding@home on the PS3 was very useful. Imagine buying many, many PS3s for cheap and putting them to work.

Or maybe Sony are the modern day devil.

Probably heat issues and because the PS3 was a gaming system all the Linux functionality posed possible security problems.
