OP, you should probably seek a vet if he is throwing up a lot... and especially if it is profuse.  Hope he's okay.

yeah, i'd care about your dog more than your phone if i were you

Well. If something is wet NEVER try to turn it on.

Ever.

Just leave it in the rice.

It's only happened twice a couple of hours apart, so it isn't profuse.

DO NOT PUT IT IN RICE!!
It is very common for people to put wet devices into rice, because some smartass thought it would be funny to make a video showing how effective it is.
The only thing it will do it GET RICE IN YOUR DEVICE.
Take it out, take it apart, and leave it alone for a while.
Undo the battery, and let it sit in a drawer for 2-3 weeks.
Do NOT power it on until it is dry.

I'm saddened by how many suggested rice!

it's actually very easy (did it to my ipod touch 4)

Just take a hair dryer and go along the edges, and after it get's a bit hot, take something thing and pry the screen off carefully

It's different on iphones.
Ipods and ipads go through the front with glue, but iphones go through the back.

I'm sorry, what?

Rice absorbs moisture very well, and also most phones are closed in design so rice can't get in there anyway... It's the best first-resort after wetting an electronic. Leaving it in the drawer like that won't do anything, assuming it won't mold over.

No, rice absorbs water when it is hot.

I have seen rice get in the charging ports of iphones, macbooks, etc.

I have seen it cause corrosion in the areas where the rice gets stuck, and it stops the air flow when it plugs up a device.

Leaving it in a drawer, assuming it wasn't sugary and wont cause residue, is the best choice of action.

Someone spilled water on their macbook while doing the ALS Ice bucket challenge, didn't open it up, and stuck it in rice.

Fast forward a week, and they try to power it on; nothing happens. So they bring it to me.

I open it up, water and rice falls out of the bottom, and i can see little rust/corrosion lines in the shape of rice.

It can be VERY bad for tech.

Take it apart, give it airflow, REMOVE THE BATTERY, and leave it alone.

No, rice absorbs water when it is hot. Not necessarily; rice is hygroscopic, not needing heat.

I have seen rice get in the charging ports of iphones, macbooks, etc. That's a tangible possibility; which is why you'd want to use rubber stoppers.  Though having rice inside the phone itself?  I don't think so.

I have seen it cause corrosion in the areas where the rice gets stuck, and it stops the air flow when it plugs up a device.

Leaving it in a drawer, assuming it wasn't sugary and wont cause residue, is the best choice of action. As I've said, having it in a dark area won't do much, and might have some mold depending on the water source.

That's just irresponsible.  They should have at least dried off the excess water first, then let the rice soak up the moisture.  A week in rice alone is way too much.

It can be VERY bad for tech. *Can* be.  Do it properly, and you'll prosper

Take it apart, give it airflow, REMOVE THE BATTERY, and leave it alone. Under a light source, of course.  Removing the battery is a given.

Responses in red.

When i said drawer, i was not meaning stick it in a literal drawer.

I was meaning forget about the device for some time.

It CAN be very bad, so why risk it when it does nothing to speed up the process.
