1280x1024 vs 1920x1080

ficabj5

I am currently running a r9 270x on a 1280x1024 resolution (it's a waste, I know), but at the moment I'm thinking of upgrading to a 1080p monitor. Will I get more fps with 1080p? I know this might be a dumb question to ask, but I'm just curious and as you can see I'm new with all this. And by the way, which 1080p budget monitor do you recommend?

You will actually have less FPS, because your card will be working harder at the higher resolution.

you will get considerably fewer fps but the 270X is a decent card so it's not such a big deal. Most games you will get around 40-50 if you crank the settings up to full. Turn them down a bit and you'll be getting 60fps across the board.

You are increasing the resolution which means the graphics card will have to "work" harder to render it, so no you will inevitably get less fps but the games you play will look a lot better.

The AcerH236HLbid is the best budget 1080p monitor imo: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-h6-series-23-ips-led-hd-monitor/4751006.p?id=1219103673253&skuId=4751006&ref=199&loc=8BacdVP0GFs&acampID=1&siteID=8BacdVP0GFs-XuhUFGcq1EJLoX3yTfnRhg

You will probably get lower FPS. But in some games, I got the same (or higher) FPS by bumping up the resolution.

In csgo anyways, I get about the only gain 20 going from 1680x1050 to 1152x864 with my r9 270. It really depents on the game. but games will look much better at 1080p

image quality improvement will be much more noticeable than performance decrease.
