Question about storage on Moto E

Hey guys, i got myself a Moto E as an upgrade from my old iphone 3g, and seeing it onl has 4gb of internal storage i bought a 16gb micro sd. The problem im having is that the micro sd and the normal space are not seen as "one", therefore, i cannot download any music/apps because it wont install directly onto the sd and the internal space is full after installing whatsapp and twitter. 

Is there a way to either set the sd card as main storage or letting the system see the two storage spaces as one? Throught some kind of root or something?
