First time dual monitor few questions.

MxZeal

Hello currently I'm using an Asus (forget the name >.<) 24 inch 1920x1080p monitor that has 1 or 2 MS response time and i see no problems with this monitor except for the REALLY ANNOYING viewing angles (if i slouch its hard to see the top of the monitor im hoping a good monitor arm would help this) as much as i would like higher than 60hz monitor i cannot afford it as a student.

I'm planning on buying a 2nd monitor but I'm not sure whats the better option;

Option 1 ) Buy the same monitor to match.

Option 2 ) Buy another better fast TN panel monitor to use as main and use current monitor as second

Option 3) Buy an IPS panel as second monitor and keep my current one as main monitor (plan on using 2nd monitor mostly for videos and my main for everything else, so an IPS would be better right?)

Option 4) Buy a 1440p monitor as main. (24inch or 27inch? if in budget.)

Option 5) Save for something like the asus Vg248qe (i have no job atm, so this would take a long time.. probably when im done school in February)

About me : I game a lot, watch videos/movies/tv alot and browse websites like reddit twitter imgur and other stuff like that a lot.

My specs are : gtx 680, 16gb ram, 3930k.

PREFERRED BUDGET : 250$ MAX INCLUDING TAX AND SHIPPING (canada here is 15% btw) and plan on buying a 50$ stand ontop of that.

If you got monitor recommendations let me know please.

Thanks for your help/time.

I'd buy the same monitor, when I used to run dual monitors I had two different monitors and hated it.

I have an Asus PB, an LG Ocean and an Asus VN. I don't mind running 3 different monitors. It is very subjective. I would say IPS but I cannot stand TN.

Same one. So if you ever run surround (3840x1080) then you don't have screen issues.

And they will have the same colors and such.

Different panels look bad together if you have OCD.

5800X3D - RTX 4070 - 2K @ 165Hz

I personally would go with the same but if you cant get the current one same size and resolution as if you try doing anything gaming over both you will have issues with the different resolutions

Has anyone read the OP's post? Why do you keep telling him to get the same monitor if he has such big issues with the viewing angles. Considering he wants to get a 2nd monitor mainly for movies and such, yet you all still tell him to get a 2nd TN monitor.

I'd get an IPS monitor, it'll solve your viewing angle problems and have way better colors.

You might notice some annoyance when you switch between monitors though considering the color difference between an IPS and TN panel.

Yes that is true it is very annoying which is why i plan on getting a VESA mount with good angles, you think that would be enough to solve that issue for me? If not il prob go with IPS,

And since asus monitors pretty much look the same, bezels are pretty similar too so i don't think i would fine it that annoying if monitors looked different.

This is also a good point i would love eyefinity in the future.

Well a VESA mount should help with those annoying viewing angles... but in my case, it'd be a disaster because at certain times I sit really normal on my chair and at other times I'm like half lying in the chair, which give me completely different viewing angles. So even with a VESA mount, I'd have to adjust it non stop considering my completely different viewing angles. I'd go crazy but that's just me.

It might be the solution for you, it might not be. It's something you'll have to decide for yourself sadly enough as it's a personal matter.

I myself can't go back to TN monitors due to the faded colors they reproduce and the bad viewing angles while other people will die for TN panels. So yeah, each to their own.

Okay, but how similar were your two monitors?

This is the one im currently using http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058UUR6E/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

and i'm currently looking at this monitor http://www.amazon.com/VN247H-P-23-6-Inch-Screen-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00AVYNS7M/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1418855192&sr=1-6&keywords=asus+24+inch+monitor

Its pretty much the same with thinner bezels, would you say that would be irritating?

Screw it il end up buying the same monitor i guess.
