The Best 4K 50" TV

lukezon

So Im looking for a new TV.

Things to consider:

-Around 50 inches

-Wall mountable

-with 4k (not really necessary though)

-don't care about 3D

-don't care about tuner since I will not be using direct TV inputs

-a good steady refresh rate for sports and gaming

-under $2000 if possible

-at least 4 HDMI inputs

Also if anyone knows any good articles or websites to look for TVs that would be appreciated too.

I haven't thought of a good signature yet.

Don't buy a 4K TV unless you're going to actually watch 4K content... so don't buy a 4K TV.

Also, today's 4K TVs are upscalling a lower resolution and are not "true" 4K.

That is 100% not true, most content will be upscaled but the panel itself is capable of displaying native 4k

I may be wrong on upscalling. However, HDMI 1.4 is only able to do 30 Hz so if the pannel's advertised refresh rate is 60Hz, there is definitely interpolation going on between the input signal's rate and the pannel's refresh rate.

I know 30 fps is probably enough to watch movies but even then, there is a maximum number of times you can rewatch House of Cards on Netflix at 4K.

99.99% of movies run at 24fps anyway, and I record on my camera in 24p or 30p.

not great for gaming but for TV and movies its fine

Personally lukezon, I would go with a nice 50'' Samsung HDTV that can be bought around 600-700 $ and would wait for bigger availability of 4K content and TVs that are built with HDMI rev 2.0 inputs to jump on the 4K TV train.

Apparently, plasma TVs are not being made anymore because all big manufacturers are moving to LED and OLED pannels. Plasma TVs have a nice contrast. Ghosting and burned-in images are much lesser problems than manufacturers and big reviewers made us think. If you can find a second hand or liquidation on a plasma HDTV, I would go for that.

without HDMI 2.0 you won't be able to playback future (paid) 4K content that comes with HDCP 2.2
