HELP! Can't map mouse buttons

0nRay
Go to solution Solved by Charger,

The weird thing is I already tried binding the buttons that weren't working to the letters K and L, but even so when I would hit those buttons in game the game wouldn't register I'm pressing anything... :/ any ideas there? I should mention that I'm running the latest version of both the game (ALL OFFICIAL PATCHES) and the Gaming software from Logitech Version 8.57.

are you using automatic game detection or on-board memory? if you are using game detection you will need to select the game from the list at the top then change the binds for that game

I'm at the point where I'm ready to throw this piece of garbage at my wall... I just bought a g502 to replace my older g700. Now don't get me wrong, this is the best handling mouse I've ever used, quality grip, good button placement, adjustable weights and best of all virtually no acceleration issues. My problem with this mouse stems from a software issue. I've been trying for the last four hours to map the G4 and G5 buttons in Skyrim and the game thinks I'm not pressing anything, I can map 6 and 7 but not 4 and 5. If I run the game in windowed mode and have Logitech gaming software log my button presses it clearly shows me pressing the buttons. I've even tried on GTAIV and I have the same issue. I should mention that my old g700 had the same issue but with different buttons, but I blamed it on bad driver support for the mouse. When I bought my 502 I thought for sure things would be different but alas they're not. Please tell me this is an issue with the drivers or something else and not just me being a complete moron. Someone please get back to me soon before I blow my top!!! :angry:

Most games do not support non-standard mouse buttons. What you usually have to do is bind the mouse buttons to keyboard commands in the mouse software and then in the game use those keyboard binds. This allows the mouse buttons to send keyboard inputs and fool the game.

To add. Most mice will recognize standart buttons like middle mouse/wheel and the left side thumb buttons. So those you can map as is. But rest need to be bind with kb buttons.

As said, most games don't recognize buttons beyond a certain extent.

What you need to do is remap the buttons in the mouse software to specific keys and then remap actions in games to those keys. A lot of mouse drivers allow for game-specific profiles, which would be exactly what you'd need here.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.

I had tried that earlier but it wasn't working because I had linked the profile to the wrong program... See comment above. All is well now :}
