Destiny: It would be a decent game if it wasn't Bungie

Suika

I can start out by saying; That $500 million budget and 10 years of progress? It shows that they developed a broken, unplayable game. It speaks poorly of Bungie, Activision's quality control, and I can say for certain that any form of "Destiny 2" that comes out will not enter my home.

I've been playing this game a lot since release, it was single handedly why I purchased an Xbox One before the release of Master Chief Collection. No other games have interested me outside of Halo. It's an MMOFPS, a very interesting sort of game I've never really played before, but it definitely hints a lot of its ideas from Borderlands. There's even a Borderlands reference, the "Dr. Nope," a weapon you can purchase in the game if you care to grind for one day, wait a week, and grind another day.

Some of the interesting factors of it, to reach level 20, you have to gather experience, like most leveling systems. The more you kill, the harder the missions you complete, the more experience you gain and the higher of a level you reach. Once you reach level 20, you can no longer level up ordinarily, you need to gather armor pieces with "light." This light is summarized as Destiny's machine god's gift, light (and you fight darkness, how generic). You have 4 armor pieces, and to reach level 30, you need each armor piece to have a total of 30 light. This isn't actually an easy feat considering, to get that, you need to find 5 more players of a similar level to grind a raid. It's not very difficult when you reach level 29 as I have, but when you start at 26, you begin encountering absurdly difficult enemies in this raid.

This game is also very oriented on making friends. The raid I mentioned? There is no matchmaking, you have to FIND those people yourself. Bungie gave you a raid, and you need the team. I don't like this, I find it atrocious. I hate not being able to complete a game because I HAVE to interact with people. For me, a quality game is a game I can enjoy and complete without having to speak to another human being. Adding multiplayer is nice but, once you make it mandatory to complete the game, you've lost my interest. For most other stuff like Strikes, you don't NEED other people, but it's nice to have them.

The random drop system is beyond annoying. I've gone grinding for hours upon hours only to find a single Legendary Engram which unlocked me a nice sniper rifle. My brother was grinding for a very similar amount of time, and found about 6-8 Legendary Engrams, all of which unlocked gauntlets for a specific class that he didn't play. The drop system is either too consistent or very inconsistent, you aren't rewarded for time or effort, that's a thing of the past in video games, you just pray to your fucking machine god that you get even a HALF DECENT DROP, which is extremely, and I mean extremely rare. Like, I've played 160 hours, and I've gotten myself 4 useful drops, while my brother's entire loadout is consisting of drops. I had to earn my stuff where as RNGesus has smiled kindly upon him.

Ok, so the drop system might be the most worthless system I have ever seen in a game, even TF2's is more predictable and worthwhile, but Destiny does allow you to buy items. With a limit. Every week, you're allowed to earn 100 vanguard and crucible points that you can spend on Legendary equipment. Find and dandy. However, each weapon is worth 160 points, a good helmet is worth 120, and you're only allowed to carry 300, on top of being able to only accumulate 100 a week. So what does that mean for a high level player? I play every Tuesday evening and grind out those 100 vanguard and then quit until next Tuesday, because I can't make any progress otherwise. What is the fun in a game where I can only play once a week to progress? There isn't.

Finally, what makes this game so great? The game breaking, beyond difficult to repair WASP error. Since Bungie knows better than Microsoft, all updates are done through Destiny rather than Xbox Live. You boot up the game, go to the loading screen, and the game begins to update. No problem, except, as one Bungie developer put it, the game isn't smart enough to know where to save the download, so if it ends up being saved into the wrong directory, you get the WASP error. Over, and over, and over again, until days, weeks, or months go by, basically until the game decides it knows where all of this information goes. This bug, or error, has existed since release. Some people have been unable to play for months and have demanded refunds to no avail. Bungie has had enough time to decide what weapons are overpowered or not, but they haven't had enough time to fix this game breaking bug? The same reason why this is the last time that Bungie, as a developer, will ever have my money. This is probably the reason Bungie hates Microsoft so avidly, it's because Microsoft wouldn't let them publish a broken pile of shit, and Bungie didn't appreciate having to actually work and make a playable game.

Conclusion? If this is ever ported to PC, I'd recommend not wasting your breath. It's broken, completely. Even if you manage to get ingame, it's still broken. The drop system is trash unless you have lady luck on your side, the updates are game breaking, Bungie doesn't care about the long time players, only the incoming players.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

They published it, they didn't develop it.

I've actually enjoyed some CoD titles, so I don't think Activision is a truly terrible publisher. AW was decent at best imo but I couldn't play it for long.

I played the game a little. There's a few minor things that annoyed me about it, like the wishy washy lame theme / atmosphere they're going for. It's so over done that it makes me want to vomit. "Guardians", "Light", " Darkness", and "The Traveller".

Random cool things and names thrown together haphazardly.

The competitive multiplayer isn't great considering the way their load out system works. It's just a game of rock paper scissors and whoever was lucky enough to start out with the gun that will beat your gun wins.

I feel like they have the makings of a good game, but they really need to polish this up.

Tea, Metal, and poorly written code.

I Hate Everything said it best imho-

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

Every single console player I have spoken to about this game, has immediately gone in to what TotalBiscuit has called "cognitive dissonance fanboy mode" and told me how all the reviews were wrong, and how it was the best game ever.

The game has disgustingly little content and is extremely focused on a single raid mission (now two) that can be beaten in a half hour or so with a good team. The drop system is garbage as I've mentioned. The enemies are either extremely easy or extremely difficult, there is no between.

The actual mechanics are interesting and did leave enough room to build a decent game from, and this is probably what a lot of people actually think they're defending (except player vs player is terrible and unbalanced), but mechanics are only part of a good experience. An easy to follow and interesting story is a MAJOR point that Bungie lost, half of the shit in the game isn't even explained.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.
