HTPC as Home Theater Receiver?

hello, I was just wondering if by chance there was something I could use to kind of replace my receiver in an HTPC I'm planning on building.

Like an audio card that would connect directly to the speakers

And an HDMI switcher card. I may be hoping for too much but I've down some light research and haven't come up with a solution yet. Just looking for some input.

I'm talking like an HDMI switcher that would fit nicely in an expansion slot or something.

And nothing crazy, just a 5.1 sound system, not that much wattage either
