Games that are better on PC than their console variants?

asim1999

This isnt just about that fact that PC gaming is superior, but what games were noticably better on PC than console.

My one: Titanfall

And yes, while it may not have the bet graphics on PC, it was better than both the XBox one and 360 versions. This was because it was much more playable on PC, had the least server issues when it came out, and the best graphics. frame rate and resolution and that any old PC from the last 5 years could play it. This and the fact that it was an Xbox flagship title and yet is was mediocre on the Xbox.

I would like to know, what PC port do you think was significantly better than the console version?

Dont be jerks and say all of them. For people that cant spend a lot of money on a pc that would get great fps consoles are a no-brainer. Yes, they arent as powerful as pcs but in those 6 years that the ps4/xbone will be around, you will be able to play all games at minimal 720p and 30 fps. And a 400-500$ pc would be able to do that.

Anyways, I prefer shooters and mobas on pc, racing games and open world games on console. You can also use a controller on a pc and even a steering wheel but I guess we're talking about mouse vs controller here

Longboarders/ skaters message me!

Have you even tried comparing them yourself before calling people 100% wrong? Without even having any evidence besides "my friends have been complaining about it all the time"?

I remember playing through this mission when my rig still had an HD 6870, it would constantly dip down to ~15 FPS at 1080p low settings. Turn it down to 720p low settings and you'll see dips down to around 20. It's ridiculous, and I also have it on Xbox 360, where frame rate drops are a lot less noticeable.

Im pretty sure the consoles had trouble with AC Unity with drops to 19fps in its early stages of release iirc. That game was a horrible launch throughout every platform.

This is a tough question to answer because I (and I assume most people) don't play multiple versions of the same game. Anyway Skyrim, I assume--I haven't played it on consoles. Borderlands 2? Gears of War

Actually they do. A PC can lock to a frame paced 30 FPS as well and actually keep a constant 30 FPS in Unity and not drop to the teens...

As bad a port as you can make? The PC can still run a 30 FPS console game better.

The answer is "all of them". This is not N64 Mario 64 release when consoles were customized hardware and a competing PC was very expensive. They ARE PC's now, and PC is about to get low level API's standard which puts them even further ahead.

Even with a low level API the consoles can't run AC Unity better. Comparing an unlocked 60 to a unlocked 30 on AC Unity and claiming the console runs a game better is simply laughable. If you are not arguing purely exclusives on a console? The argument you are presenting is asinine.

Just ignore Idort, he's an anti-PCMASTERRACE moron who counters pro-PC arguments with any half-baked excuse that comes to his mind to justify the idea of buying multiple platforms to get an optimal experience.

As for games, PC all the way.

It's a general all the way 'round entertainment and media system, so even beyond games.

Anyone who says "Oh, but the controller?" You can use the controller on PC and I do so on pretty much most of my games which aren't an FPS.

Anyone who says "Oh, but the couch experience?" You can still game on your couch, wireless keyboard and mouse if need be but porting out your screen to a television is more than possible.

Anyone who says "Oh, but the multiplayer experience/friends?" Multiplayer is more than at home on the PC. Sure, maybe things like split-screen aren't as common but these days isn't like how it used to be. I'm more than certain that a good majority of games that have local multiplayer will have the same on PC.

The only fault PC has is that it's a difficult platform to adapt to straight out of the box. It's complicated and requires a lot of inquiry on the behalf of the consumer which makes a console purchase seemingly a more simpler and logical one.

The day when I can walk into a store, go up to the counter and ask the person "Hey, I've got a couple hundred bucks, what kind of systems could I buy?" and then you were offered options that were clear in what their specific strengths were so that people could make a basic yet informed decision to suit specific needs.

Gah, can't wait for consoles to die. The moment they die is when half of the stupid shit that's plaguing the gaming industry will just disappear and we can start to fix the other half properly.

Exactly, I run AC Unity at 30fps with Adaptive V-sync on ultra at 1080p on my almost 3 year old PC.(And Watchdogs also ran with over 40fps maxed on 1080p)

And the just 1 year old consoles are already running it on 900p/high and aren't even hitting 30fps.

I haven't played a single game yet that was not better on PC.

Even GTA IV was better on PC and that was one of the worst ports I've ever played.

while i agree they are games that play better on a couch that a desk gta isn't one of them, its good on a pc regardless just look at the mods th improve a lot of the experience, gta is almost up there with TES on mods, and thats with community hacks and zero support from the developers, a game i would say does plays better on a couch are sports one like fifa, mlb or nba, you could play those games fine on pc too but the main attraction on them is local multiplayer something that its pretty much unsupported on pc because lazy ass devs

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefront 2. Almost 10 years old, multiplayer is completely dead on console. Still barely hanging in there on PC, but it also has mod support and an amazing community.

Battlefield franchise from Bad Company 2-Hardline. Control scheme is better, 32/64 player server support before console.

Any valve game, this applies to L4D, L4D2, The Orange Box, Portal 2, and CS GO.

Finally, GTA, it started on PC and has a loyal community.

Ya know you can plug your PC into a TV via HDMI cable, get a headset, and controller of your choice and play it like a console?

All of them. Reasoning? Mods, input variety, graphics, higher FPS, higher refresh rate, higher resolution, etc.

So I'll bring my PC out to the couch and plug in a controller? I don't know about you, but couch gaming is only comfortable when playing racing and fighting games.

At least games like Watch Dogs and AC Unity don't run like shit on consoles compared to "console killer" PCs

Unity runs like crap on consoles too and at least the community has fixed Watch Dogs, unlike the devs themselves.

I have no idea what you're complaining about. This isn't a "PC vs. Console" thread, it's a "PC experience vs. Console experience" thread. It doesn't matter that people can't spend money on a PC as that isn't the focus of this thread. ALL games are better on PC unless the developer royally messes it up, but usually it gets fixed or the PC community fixes it ourselves.

Exactly. Hell you can play most of these "next gen games" with probably a GTX 460 from 2010 and a i7-920 from 2008 at 30 fps at 1080p with Xbox One settings :).
