It's amazing how bad the audio is on 360p videos.

Wouldn't H2O's self ionizing property be far more likely the reason for it's ionisation over time? (meaning it reacts with itself to form OH- and H3O+ ions)

 

I so wish I had pictures of it but there was a partitioned fishtank oil cooled rig at the msy booth at PAX AUS (emailing them for pictures now)

The same  oil is used in electric transformers for it's cooling properties also.

I was thinking the same thing quite a while back and that would be the cause of its electrical conductivity as there are charged particles floating about.

Thanks! I mean the video was totally watchable but it's good you guys are willing to fix it rather than just leaving it.

Yeah... it's one of those videos that will probably live on for quite a while, so if there is a simple fix we can make within the first hour after posting we would rather make it... Thanks for understanding :3

I don't really know how to ask this with out sounding like a complete asshole but don't you guys watch the videos beforehand so this type of stuff doesn't happen? If I recall correctly a few months ago on multiple videos there was a blue error message that consistently popped up as well(this has since been resolved) .

You guys are right that the naturally-forming H- and H3O+ ions do cause even purified water to conduct electricity, however, the equilibrium concentrations of those ions are very low, so the conductivity of purified/de-ionized water is still about 1000 times less than ordinary tap water (which contains plenty of other mineral ions like chloride, sodium, potassium, etc.). In fact, de-ionized water is low enough in conductivity that you could splash some on your powered-on computer components and probably be fine if you don't wait too long to cut the power.

 

I obviously wouldn't recommend trying this, but I DO have a bit of first hand experience from when my first water cooling build sprung a leak all over a couple of GTX Titans while the system was powered on. Terrifying as it was, the coolant was based on de-ionized water and all of the components were still fine afterward.

It's a legitimate question. We do review everything, but sometimes errors are missed or there is a bit of miscommunication. This was one of those times.

I'd say we do a decent job on QC, but it's definitely still a work in progress.
