Any online stores that sell high-voltage capacitors in the US?

Zeke

I think this kinda falls into the "other mods" category.

I'm in need of some high-voltage caps (400+V, 2000+µF or anything 400+V with more than 180J of stored energy). I've found some in my country but I'm thinking there just may be some more powerful/compact options in the USA. Can someone suggest me a store where I can find those?

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

It's newark in the US.

And they don't tend to stock such high power caps.

Ebay is your best bet. That's where I get mine.

EDIT: Just search "ultra capacitor" or "super capacitor" on ebay.

Supercaps have a lot of stored power, but very low (for my purposes) voltage (12-16V), I need the electrolytic ones. Plus I'm kinda iffy when it comes to buying stuff from eBay. Seems like Farnell will be perfect for me.

Yes, I understand this. Ultracaps are really what you want. I don't think farnell supplies caps of that high a voltage rating AND high capacitance.

They tend to only have the low voltage ones. That's what I've always found anyway.

If you find what you're looking for then perfect :)

If not, let me know and I'll have a proper look and see if I can find something.

Hope this helps :)

What's the application for these caps btw?

Car batteries work for rapid fire low muzzle energy projectiles and they're not exactly portable. If you want a single powerful shot - you need capacitors.

i was just thinking of a easu homemade solution, you. Mentioned 12-18v and several car batteries can do the job. Did you ever build it?

Not yet, I still need a 12V > 400V DC-DC converter to charge the caps. I haven't exactly been working round the clock on this thing :3

Nah, it's okay as long as I keep it below 100J of muzzle energy. Plus, I'm not shooting people with it.

...maybe pigeons.
