Blizzard getting DDOSed big time.

ForsakenLive

There has been quite a bit of activity against blizzard tonight, US servers, Battle.Net, LogIn servers, even the very same forum.

Gamer Rant posted a new article about all the major DDOS attacks Blizzard has received since their Warlords of Draenor expansion.

http://gamerant.com/world-warcraft-ddos-attack-server-problem-warlord-draenor/

You can see the attack live on the major DDOSing websites.

Map from Norse currently showing the attacking servers: http://map.ipviking.com/

Map from Digital Map Attack: http://www.digitalattackmap.com/#anim=1&color=0&country=ALL&time=16402&view=map (hit play and set date).

As you can see, US and China are the major attackers tonight.

I think I may know where this came from.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

I have strong, STRONG belief it's LizardSquad.

I love Blizzard and see no other reason why they'd get hardcore DDOS'd. It's all I can think of that would be the answer.

Why, though? So little kids with a script can feel better about their lack of influence on the world?

I get upset sometimes, but I don't attack people over it.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I feel bad for the attackers. That their lives are so sad/depressing that they take feel the need to take away enjoyment from others.

People work all day, take care of kids, go to school, or other challenges in life. WoW is a escape to find a little bit of enjoyment. Esp. after Thanksgiving where people were cooking, cleaning and spending time with thier family. Today should be a day to relax this holiday and enjoy it before we get into the end of year hectic holiday season (Finals for us college students). Sad that people want to ruin that for others.

What happened? Why they are getting DDOS?

Possibly due to Warlords. They were DDosed a couple weeks ago because of the release of Warlorods of Draenor. http://www.cnet.com/news/world-of-warcraft-servers-taken-down-by-ddos/

My profile pic is the game i'm currently playing. I hope i remember to change it..

A long time ago I learned people aren't bronies to make a show or because they love attention or to be different. They literally are a hardcore fan, like I saw someone who spends all lunch hour in the Computer lab with all kinds of broney related stuff open. Way to much dedication to just be different.

People who DDOS are sadists and actually get off on this kind of stuff. I find is annoying when people make fun of people's appealings by discounting them as real.

Like saying someone who likes big fancy cars doesn't like big fancy cars and is just compensating for a small dick.

Or saying someone who is a troll or DDoser or is just a depressed person and is just taking out anger on others.

Because DDosing isn't like bullying where the bully is someone who used to get picked on.

Instead it's someone who is bullying because they get a high from it.

TL;DR

Don't try and say you feel bad for them, Becuase they actually love what they are doing.

Instead just say you Are mad at them.

Isn't the point of DDoSing from a monetary point of view to poke at servers to see what kind of securities are set up in place? Whether it's stealth or a bombardments. Then after when they find a security loop hole, they can either ask for money or steal everyone's creditcard/personal info?

Just wondering.

I'm more interested in what kind of internet connection "that dude" in the middle of far south Atlantic is using. Only thing I can find out there is an uninhabited nordic island called bouvet island(as per Google)

Seems the ideal location for a James bond'esk criminal mastermind to launch an attack from. hell its even a volcanic island that near Antarctica, for some awesome geologic clichés.

So obviously this is a stormcloak plot lead by @mr.skyrim_pc to capture the secret of the empire!

Off an uninhabited island? That how 1337 villainous that dude is. He built his own internet!

More seriously though, I'm still looking into islands in that region. Not finding anything inhabited yet.

Guys, it's not thousands of users around the world plotting against the company, but a much smaller group.

How does it work and how do they get that much horsepower? It's actually pretty easy.

In today's gaming, specially in the WoW environment, there is sadly a lot of DDOSing involved, even just with knowing the skype information of someone you can hit them. On high ranked tiers of players (and even not high ones) there is a lot of cheating going on, were in order to win they lag the other team to death; this is not only seen in WoW but in many competitive online games.

All these people trying to DDOS the other player are not computer experts, not even they know how to constantly ping and send data to an IP. This kids, basically, use user friendly software with a GUI that lets them do their thing. Major DDOS groups, just like the links provided in the OP, provide free downloads of DDOS software for noobs. A big part of these people doesn't know the software installation leave them with process in the background, making their systems basically a server commanded by the developer.

Basically, the creator of the software, usually groups like LizardSquad can use on demand all these servers created inside people's PCs and even networks to perform such a major attack. That and cheap Chinese webservers, as the attack pictures show.

It's really sad seeing this (as Ubisoft calls, lol) toxic part of the gaming community, but until generations growth and people become more tech aware and morally evolved we will still see it.
