Lately there have been a lot of Black Friday deals but I was going to wait for broadwell or take advantage of these deals?

no. it will be a <5% increase on average, and in some situations, none at all.

take advantage of the deals man. No matter where you are in life its gonna always be like this. 2 years back we were wondering to wait on Ivy Bridge or go Sandy Bridge for now, buy for now, its not like Broadwell is gonna be 50% night and day faster than even something as old as Sandy Bridge let alone Haswell

System: Intel Core i3 3240 @ 3.4GHz, EVGA GTX 960 SSC 2GB ACX 2.0, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Kingston HyperX RAM, ASRock B75M-DGS R2.0 Motherboard, Corsair CX430 W Power Supply

Well... that's presuming clock frequencies stay the same. Broadwell chips might overclock a lot better than Haswell and/or have higher base frequencies.

what makes you think that. heat density will be higher, unless they manage to make them run at <1V. and the process is very similar to haswell apart from the shrink of transisitors (and even so not every transisitor)

Nothing. I'm just pointing out that the '<5%' increase is presuming same clockspeeds which might not be the case.

its HIGHLY unlikely intel will boost default speeds more than 100MHz and damn near impossible for the process to be able to do frequencies of 5GHz... this is trigate FinFET ;) these arent friends with high frequencies

Now now, don't go spilling all these secrets or you'll lose that foundry engineer job.

Wait for Skylake, should be more of enthusiast grade.

well i dont expect much from skylake either to be honnest.

only DDR4 ram support, and a new socket + chipset.

But DDR4 ram will probably be the biggest improvement of the new platform.

In terms of performance maybe ~10% improvement on ipc if you are lucky.

Not interessting to me at all. since we know that DDR4 does not make any sense at all.

Offcourse i cannot look in the future.

But this are my expectations. :)

Also you will have to get a new motherboard for it which will set you back even further.
