new rig. latest os?

ProjectX01
Go to solution Solved by Geekazoid,

Windows 10 is in testing at the moment with its technical preview that anyone can download. This preview currently has a key logger bundled with it to help Microsoft improve it. But this also means that, if you were to install it and use it as your main OS, any personal info you typed or bank details that you typed would be sent to Microsoft. That's why at the moment Microsoft is encouraging people to not install it on their main PC but on a test PC or VM.

So, with all that said, your best bet would be to install Windows 8.1 right now until Microsoft Windows 10 is released to the public sometime next year. I hope that this helps you out. Good luck mate!

so im thinking of installing windows 10 on my new rig. do you guys think i should? why and why not?

is it really that much more stable than windows 8? i've been on win 8  for over a year. then switched to 7 just to feel the difference. then 2-3 months ago i switched back to win 8. and it felt like windows 8 has better overall performance.

yeah, i feel like everyone's just not comfy with change. i know that "newer does not = better". but as far as i can see. it's actually pretty good. since i haven't encountered any issues. that;s why im asking if win 10 is actually a better choice?

Why not? Hmmm... It isn't finished is a pretty good reason. :P

While you could do it, it isn't recommended if you want a reliable OS. You could lose information if you are not careful. Go with whichever you can find cheaper. Choosing one or the other will make very little difference if you plan to upgrade to 10 when a stable release comes out. Both are perfectly acceptable. Win 8.1 is a pretty good OS with classic shell. The thing most people hate about it (including me) is that it means change. In reality though it is pretty decent.

Not as a main OS (reasons stated above). You are actually better off installing Windows 7 or 8.1 at the moment. ;)

Windows 8.1>7

Anyone who says windows 7 is better is ignorant.
