Corsair carbide 240 or H440

Pefi

Hey all.

First of all, i'm new to this forum, and since i couldent find where to search for topics >-< meh (atm on a pc on my job, which is running win xp, might be the reason).

So my question is if i'd be better of getting a NZXT H440 for my new build (beginning 2015), of the Carbide 240.

Atm i'm considering to go for full custom watercooling on I7 4790K, 1150 - Asus Maximus VII GENE, 1150 - Asus Matrix GTX 780 TI 3GB - Corsair HX850i - Samsung 850PRO 256GB.

On a side note, i want to cool the CPU, GPU, and the Motherboard.

Please do not hesitate to give suggestions if it's not the best setup. As for now i'm only going for 1 780 TI, but it might change in the future. :D

As far as i know, and have been able to find, the Carbide 240 can hold a 240 rad in the front, and in that case, would it be enough surface for the CPU and GPU and motherboard? Or should i eliminate the possibility for a 2 GPU, and put a 240 in the bottom (if it can fit)?

The other possibility is to go for the H440 and as far i can see, you could easily fit 2x240 rads in, and that should be sufficient for the expansion of another GPU.

Hope you can help me, and guide me in the right way.

Thx for reading, and sry for my spelling, english is not my 1. language ;)

Best Regards Pefi

I would go for a Define R5 if you're watercooling.

Air 240 / Air 540, Clean and radiator support 4 days. Could also go for the Corsair 300/450D or the NZXT S340.

The Air 540 would be more inline with the H440 (size and rad support wise). I would get the 540 over the H440.

There's no way I would go for the Air 240 when water cooling a CPU + GPU. Seeing as you would only have a single 240mm Rad. That's the bare minimum to keep them cool, you want some breezing room to feel comfortable.

For water cooling I would go for the Phanteks Enthoo Pro/Luxe. Excellent rad support and about the same price as an Air240

Air 240 is an okay case, not so good at liquid cooling though.

H440 is good, though a bit restrictive as far as airflow is concerned. And a bit big, the board you're planning on is mATX, the H440 is ATX. While it really isn't a big deal to use smaller motherboards than the case was intended to use, with windowed cases it tends to look a little odd.

Some other cases that support water cooling fairly well:

Fractal Design Node 804
Fractal Design Arc Mini R2

Corsair 350D

Though if you have no issue with an mATX board in an ATX case, I would like to +1 @arnavvr by saying the Fractal Design Define R5 is a good case.

Also I would recommend a GTX 980 over the 780 Ti, same performance, lower power consumption and likely easier to find as all 780 Ti's have been discontinued.

But by the way, you can find used 780ti's: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR10.TRC0.A0.H0.X780ti&_nkw=780ti&_sacat=0 or you can go for crossfire 290's or 970's

First of all, thx for the replys!

And for the GTX 780 TI, the pricing seems quite high if i go for the 980, it's roughly 1½ times more expensive, sadly.

But the Define R5 actually looks quite good, atleas the window edition, and as for the ATX/mATX, i'm not really locked down for the matx, it was just the one that would fit for the 240, but obviously if i got a atx tower i would change the motherboard :D

Probably a good Idea for a custom loop. A slightly larger case will give you much more support.

A small water cooled case sounds good in theory, but isn't very practical/effective.

Although I guess someone with a 900D build may see my H440 build small in comparison...

And for my setup, there isent anything really off? And how much would i gain on going for the 980 instead of the 780TI? keeping the cost in mind.
