EVGA Supernova G1 750w on sale, please help!

TERRA-NOVA

The EVGA Supernova G1 750 watt is on sail for $50 at NCIX right now. I'm wondering if 4 12v rails each with 20 amps is good enough for two Gigabyte 970 G1 Gaming Windforce cards, and this PSU only has Overload and Overvoltage. Do I need more safety features or am I ok with getting this?

The g2 is on sale for 70 after rebate on newegg. I suggest getting that because the g2's are simply the best power supplies in their class. Not that the g1 is terrible but I don't know much about it other than it's just an older design. Evga's older stuff is meh

Is it of super flower design?

Not sure but the JohnnyGuru review is pretty much the same as the G2.

It's pretty much on par with the G2.

No it isn't

The G1 is an FSP made unit based on the Aurum platform

The G2 is a Superflower unit based on the Leadex platform

Jonnyguru has only reviewed the G2.

@TERRA-NOVA Wait I just realized that it's a EVGA NEX. Which means no. It's Definitely not the same nor is it close. I would get the g2. At the price it is now it's a steal, even when not on sale it's a good deal because it beats out everything at that price bracket too. The 1500W unit Johnny guru did was of a different design than the lower wattage models. The lower wattage ones perform much worse. They are not awful but more middle of the road mediocre power supplies. Where the g2 is top of the line.

I have a G2 750w powering a 5820k and 980 (it was cheaper than the 650w for some reason) and it's excellent. I had a little bit of coil whine the first couple days it was up but now it's super quiet. It even has a fanless mode.

Good choice. Also, don't worry too much about the safety stuff, unless your house gets struck by lightning the worst that'll happen is the computer will just shut off. Just remember to get a decent surge protector.
