Gtx 970 Bottle neck?

Is my new gpu going to be a bottleneck? I am getting the evga gtx 970 stock and I have the amd x4 760k and was wondering if it would be a bottle neck. I know everything else is not a bottleneck.

That's a bottleneck, quite a significant one too

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

It depends on the game, but a 760k will certainly bottleneck a 970 in some (many) games.

Not really if you overclock the CPU above 4GHz, then you should be fine. But the "bottleneck" (stupid thing to say IMO) is not SO massive that it's EXTREMELY noticeable.

Yea it's a bottleneck, if you don't plan on upgrading your CPU in the relatively near future, I suggest you go with a lower-end card like a 760/270(x)/280.

Damn I hate that word. You didn't even word your sentence correctly. The CPU will be the "bottleneck".

Well, you would have to change your motherboard as well, due to the FM2 socket, having the 760k the best option for it really. If you want a cheap solution, go with an i3 + h81/h97 motherboard. Should only be about 150~$.

fx 6300 - sapphire dual x r9 270x - Zalman z9 - Evga 500B - Cooler master hyper TX3 - Win. 8.1 - Asrock 970 extreme 3 r2.0 - Crucial ballstix sport 8gb (2x4) - WD blue 1TB - some random optical drive for 11$
