Thoughts on the Nikon D3300?

T.Vengeance

So here's the thing, I don't really have the passion for photography, but I am interested in it. I don't see myself buying a new camera in the next few years, however I'm still interested in picking up one this black friday, and that'll probably be the camera I'll be using for the next 5 years? Anyhow futureshop has this amazing D3300 sale tomorrow http://www.redflagdeals.com/deal/cameras/nikon-d3300-24-7mp-dslr-camera-w-af-s-dx-nikkor-18-140mm-lens-kit-battery-dslr-gadget-bag/ Pretty much it's the body plus some VR lens which the normal price for that lens is about 500. So add on the body price and it's going to be 1000. So I know the sale is legit and it's not them just inflating the price just to drop it and make it a "sale". So, anyone's thoughts on this? Is it worth 700? I'm eyeing the D3300 for that 60fps video too.

This might be a bit late, but being a person who prefers Nikon over Canon, if you want to go take videos, please go for canon slr. The 18-400m f/3.5-5.6 Dx lens is actually not a very good lens, so IMO this is not a good deal.

Nikon cameras are decent with videos aswell since 2 years ago or so. The D3300 now has 60fps 1080p recording.

It is getting better, but compare to Panasonic, some Sony's and Canon, it's still a bit behind, tho Canon see to never have sharp images comparably.

i have to admit, continuous autofocus is still total crap on Nikon. But i really like the detail in the video and the good dynamic range.

They arent far behind Canon. Canon should do something about it :D
