New headphones $450 budget

roctrebira
Go to solution Solved by Lays,

The HE500 are a little to much for me.

You can pick them up for around $400 used, and $450 open box I believe

I would totally recommend HE-500 now that the new pads for HE-560 have been released and fit on the HE-500. People say they're miles better than the stock HE-500 pads, which IMO suck.

Dt990 would be another good one, as well as everything @MayflowerElectronics recommended.

(hi tyler)

Im in the market for a new pair of cans since my 598s broke. My budget is $450 for just the headphones. The main music I listen to is edm and I would like something with a nice pinchy bass and if you could recommend an amp/dac that would be needed for the headphones it would be nice. If you need anymore info just ask.

The Beyerdynamic Custom One Pros with an Objective2 ODAC Combo will be probably be one of the best options you can go for. However, it does go slightly over-budget at $470.

Ahh ok. Well for that price, the Sennheiser HD 650 is something that you'd might like. It will need an amp though.

HE500?

Funny thing is, I've observe a price gap, somewhere between $350-$650 (roughly). There are a lot of good headphones in that price range, but they aren't very much of an upgrade, compared to those in $200-$350 range. When the price hit around $700 up, the hierarchy starts again.

The HD600 is more neutral. I love it for classical. HD650 has slightly more bass. These two are actually very similar in sound signature.

My recommendation would be to buy the either an akg k7xx massdrop edition as their pricing is sweet or the philips Fidelio x2 as they do have a bit of a bassboost in comparison to the hd600/650

No, the 880's are neutral. The 990's have a better bass response for that kind of music.
