The Cicret Bracelet: A Tablet That's On Your Skin!

The Circret Smart Bracelet, which appeared on Indiegogo not long ago, has now finished its campaign for funding. The result should be a bracelet wearable that can project a touch-controlled screen onto your arm.

The Circet uses a Pico projector to throw your mobile's screen into your arm. It also features eight proximity sensors which the bracelet uses to detect your finger position so as to feedback controls. This means you can use your phone as you would normally, but all right there on your arm while the device itself sits in your pocket or bag.

The Circet features its own processor, storage, vibration feedback, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity as well as the sensors and projector. We have to wonder how long the battery on a device like this will actually last though.

The campaign for the bracelet finished on Indiegogo where it was going for $400, which is about £250. The campaign has now gone from the site along with the video where it says the company is "actually modifying a few things… so [will] be back soon." The final product should sell for around $600 to $700 which is about £375 to £435.

This is a pretty neat device, at first I thought it was embedded in your skin which then I had an immediate problem with. However it seems it's only a projection. Battery life can't be too amazing though. Pretty cool if it's real though.

-snip-

if they can put it in my skin like a tat, and has a port to be upgraded, that would be awesome. way better then a projector. as long as it can always be upgraded, or if it was a blank 4k screen that just connected wirelessly to my phone.

for how small it is and that it seems to run full android, i presume this thing is going to have like 1 hour battery and lag like hell, and that's even if it works

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

Funny thing, maybe for over a couple of years, it's not the right time (yet) for such things.

I can see people using the vibrate function for, uh, "other things" (assuming this is real).

EDIT: WOW THAT VIDEO IS SO FAKE LOOKING. The screen moves seperate from the arm, and sometimes things came up before the person "tapped" it. xD

A full phone no... Perhaps it could be an addon to a phone that just projects what your phone would do on its screen maybe. But the battery life would suck :P

I dont think they did any kind research regarding how this will actually work. People need to stop trying to sell ideas on crowdfunding sites because that is all this will ever be.

  • 1 month later...

It's a cool idea, I'll give them that, but did anybody else notice something? That video is fake. The Android UI is moving a bit too fast, and sometimes he'll press somewhere, bo nowhere close to a certain app, but then that certain app will pop up. Not only that, but when he's going down to select something, the screen is moving juuuust before he hits it. One more thing that ticked this off was when he started a game of Fruit Ninja. His finger came nowhere close to the Start button, nor did he swipe the screen.

Again, it's a cool idea, but come on, give us a working product at least. I don't buy that video for a second.
