HD650,A stupid choice for gaming?

Recon97

It got hell of a bass as I read reviews on it.Isn't too much bass bad for gaming?

I already made a topic on it but it makes me reconsider the choice as I will be throwing 460$ then.

Probably a waste of money if you're only using them for gaming. They certainly won't be bad for gaming, but they're well overqualified I'd say, buy something suited to your kind of music or for movies depending on what else you'll use them for.

For gaming, a pair of AKG K612 Pros would be ideal. They are a little on the warm side but have an overall neutral sound signature and have good mids and treble.

I got 2 headphones currently, the HE400 and the AD700. HE400 produce more natural and warmer sounds, and overall better for movies and music.

For gaming, AD700 is better, with its wider soundstage, better positional audio, and clearer mids and highs. HE400 produce more natural SFXs, that it feels more like watching a movie, instead of playing a game. Tradeoff with the wideness, positional audio, and the mids and highs.

HD650 is a bit like HE400, but HD650 got less highs. That's why I tell this story of my personal experience/comparison.

Too much base is a bad thing if it muffles shit like footsteps. The reason I like my 558s is because the base is not overpowering and loose so i can abuse them in games like CSGO and bf4. The HD 650s will be more of the same as pretty much all open back sennheisers sound the same. If you dont want to drop over $400 on headphones try something lowerend like the HD558s, HD 598s or HD 600s

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.

No, just no... M40Xs are a much better value, and closed headphones like that aren't even close to as good for gaming.

If you are willing to spend that much money the 650s are great they have a great soundstage and are comfortable for long gaming sessions but if you want alternatives you can take a look at the akg k7xx massdrop edtion which is a steal for the price and another one would be the Philips fideio x2 both of these are cheaper and have just as good if not better sound quality .

And for those people telling you that high end headphones aren't worth it for gaming its all about how much you value sound quality personally I think it can contribute to your over all experience it will definitely help you get more immersed in your game and the soundstage can give you a competetive edge

All of those Audio Technicas have extremely small sound stage so they're all bad for gaming.

Ehhh if it's just for gaming I would go with something cheaper. The AKG on Massdrop is a very good deal but you will have to wait until February to receive them. Other options are Audio Technica AD500x or AKG K612.

The main thing you want in headphones that are to be used for gaming is positional audio (you can hear "where" the sound is coming from), which usually requires open headphones, as they have a better soundstage. The HD650's are decent for positional audio, and I think that, having made the investment, it will be just fine to use them for gaming.

Thats what I said, I just said the the m50s aren't even a good value as closed headphones. I said open headphones are much better for gaming.

i rather have no sound than using M50 for gaming, they're terribad.

HD650 is okay, but for the same money, you could even get atleast twice the immersion from a HD650.

When 2 things meet each other, Quantum stuff happens.
