Need help on aftermarket cpu cooler compatibility

Hi guys,

Newbie here, I need help on determining how to properly measure what aftermarket CPU coolers will fit in my rig.

Mobo is Gigabyte H97M-D3H
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb ddr3
Case: Bitfenix Comrade (Windowed)

I need help in determining what measurements should I factor in when it comes to determining the compatibility of aftermarket CPU coolers with the rest of my rig.

I have a few coolers in mind, I'm not quite sure how to look at them if they will fit in my rig:

Case fits 160mm coolers, Vengeance is 25mm (one source, need comfirmation). Hyper 212 will fit fine. You may need to use slots 2 and 4 for ram. Deepcool is tight for the case, same goes for Dark Knight. With Dark Knight you are OK for ram. Deepcool is dual tower and will require low profile ram.

Dark Knight and 212 are pretty much in par on performance. Both single tower and 120mm. Deepcool however is dual tower and so completely in different league. It would be noticeably better.

Gotcha, what I really like about the Dark Knight is the overall black color. I guess I have to sacrifice looks for actually compatibility with the rest of my build. Thanks a bunch for the help! :)

Really? Like how? :o

 

It doesn't have the clearest manual and mounting can be bit tricky. And it wiggles after being tighten down. The one I have installed had faulty screw which wasn't going in too smoothly either. But once you get in mounted, it will deliver what it losts in mounting.
