PS4 replacement HDD question

apav
Going to be upgrading my drive when I purchase my PS4 in a few days. I've narrowed down my choices to just two.

or

After doing some research into HDD vs SSHD in a PS4, the general consensus is that a SSHD does have shorter load times, some miniscule as a few seconds, some big as 20 or more. But a few things are making this a hard choice for me.

1. While it's a SSHD, it's still a 5400 RPM drive (and the old 7200RPM ones are hard to find or expensive) so I have no idea how faster it would be in a PS4.

2. PS4 doesn't support TRIM or SSD garbage collection, will that affect SSD/cache?

3. $20 more for another TB, that's pretty good. I care about speed as much as the drive's size, which is why this is so hard to decide.

How do you think these two compare in speed? Would you still get the extra TB even if the SSHD is noticeably faster? Thanks so much!

i would get the 2TB, i dont think an SSHD would help THAT much, especially on a ps4

also, are you sure the PS4 supports 1+ TBs?

Case: NZXT Phantom PSU: EVGA G2 650w Motherboard: Asus Z97-Pro (Wifi-AC) CPU: 4690K @4.2ghz/1.2V Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Ram: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB 1866mhz GPU: Gigabyte G1 GTX970 Storage: (2x) WD Caviar Blue 1TB, Crucial MX100 256GB SSD, Samsung 840 SSD Wifi: TP Link WDN4800

I would get the SSHD for the noticeable performance boost. A terabyte will go a long way, unless you're filling it with media. In which case, you should really have an external drive or connect to your PC's media

Says it does on the Newegg product description and a ton of Amazon reviews.

I agree, but I'd like to find out how much of a real world difference it actually makes. Also, I remembered that the PS4 makes you download any game you want to play to your HDD. I don't know if it's a partial or full size installation, but I assume once you build up a library over time they will all add up. Maybe for that reason the 2TB is worth it.

I'd go with the SSHD. By the time you run out of space, they'll have a 2TB version or the Samsung will be even cheaper.

I think ps4 only supports up to 1.5tb.I would recommend a 1tb 7200rpm.Its noticably better with consistent results.I would get the Hgst travelstar 7k1000.

Don't put an SSD in a PS4, it makes like half a second difference on the videos I've seen.

I don't have answers for your questions, but I know PS4 supports up to 6TB hard drives. However, 3.5 drives won't fit in the console and will have to hang out.
