$2000 Workstation Build

I have a budget of about $2000. This will be for video editing in Premiere Pro and compositing in After Effects. I will also do light gaming rarely on this computer. I need a good mechanical keyboard and mouse, but I have plenty of monitors. I also need an OS for the build. I want to buy most of the components during black friday and cyber monday when there cheaper.

Thanks!

-James

Best option would be to buy 8.1 and get the free upgrade to 10 when it comes out next year.

Great option for both gaming and heavy video editing, for gpu you could go with a 970 which does have slightly better preformance.

what if i wanted to go with a lower end cpu like the 5820k. I was also wondering if it would be better to go with a quadro card, rather than the geforce card. Because I know the GeForce gtx 980 and 970 are not certified for Adobe products.

quadro would be definately better for video editing but not so much for gaming

Sure a quadro is good , the xeon phil is for about 175$ so i tink you might be able to fit it in you budget,

Also you have the desision of a firepro gpu

Could you give me the link to this exon phi.

Also I would want to go with a quadro rather than a firepro because the quadros are certified for both after effects and premiere pro.

I have herd alot about exon phi's, but what exactly are they, and how are they going to help my editing and rendering?

heres the link

so bassicly a xeon phil is a co-processor which give more cores to render , like the quadro cards which have cuda cores the phil cas cores also. Imagine as you have a gpu with cores and now with the intel phil you have more cores which will make your end result faster... i will try to fit it in my budget if i were you .... but of you can ' t is ok...

read though the link :)

Hope i help you

I am not a 100 % sure if you can use it in your workstation

Maybe ask in the gpu department ... you will get more decent results

the 5820k is not worth it if you want an x99 go with 5930k

i put the xeon becase xeon phil if work together with a xeon you will ge the maximum performance out of it
