Tom's Hardware's SSD suggestion

Influencija

So Tom's Hardware announced their SSD recommendations for November 2014 (Click here)
As much as I respect the site, it seems that only two SSDs exist on the planet: Crucial MX100 and Samsung 850 Pro. Now don't get me wrong, they're both good drives for their respective prices and I really think everyone doing SSD reviews should mention the 850 Pro because it is the only drive available now that has the new 3d v-nand technology, but I have samsung's 840 evo. The 250GB version is only 10$ more expensive than the MX100 on AMAZON, and it's faster, so... what do you guys think about Tom's recommendations, and which SSDs would you recommend as the "best for the money" drive?

Am I missing something?  Why don't they have a chart showing the random read/write for each device, instead of only showing sequential?  Sequential benchmarks are merely the ideal scenario and don't reflect the typical use case of most users.  Also, I don't see the Intel 730 series in their charts....disappointing review.

I dont know why they did only sequential... and as for that intels drive, it doesnt make sense to buy it anymore. Since samsungs 850 Pro came out it is THE high end SATA SSD to go for since it completely saturates SATA 6GB/s, has the newest nand technology, larger manufacturing process (which means they last more), 10 year warranty and is cheaper than intel 730.

Intel 730 Series 480GB - $199:

Samsung 850 Pro Series 512GB - $319

Hard to justify purchasing a same capacity drive that is over $100 more.  Where do you see the Samsung Pro being "cheaper" at?

This is a monthly roundup. It's just the best that they've seen, not a complete review of all models available. Both Samsung and Crucial keep winning these contests because of one thing. Good hardware at exceptional prices vs the competition. If everyone else could offer the same or better at better prices then they'd get the spot.

And before you post, yeah there's sales that beat these prices every week but that's limited time offers. The price that they post are the prices offered all the time. Use these drives as your baseline. If the comparison is "better" at any given time, buy that. These are the reference for all the rest.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!
