Kernel Modules?

Hi,

 

So for a university project I am configuring a kernel and updating the current one on a slackware distro. 

 

I was wondering if anyone knows of which modules are safe to leave out and any performance tweaks which may help? I have been playing for a while and changed the CPU to the one installed and enabled high capacity ram support.
