Console vs PC?

Guest
Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Do your friends have laptops or desktops? Ask them to download Steam and then play some kick-ass co-op games like Insurgency and Castle Crashers.

If not, why not ask them if they have ever thought about becoming a PC gamer? Convince them. That's what I have managed to do with some of my friends. Some of my friends were already PC gamers so that helped a bit.

Have you also considered the fact that you should have build your PC as opposed to doing something retarded like buying an Alienware? You could probably resolve your overheating issue by not having a shitty computer.

Are you sure it isn't the platform you don't find fun? What games are you playing right now? Could I recommend some such as Divinity: Original Sin and Just Cause 2?

Have you also considered the fact that a custom build PC would actually be cheaper in the long term and would have superior longevity to your friends' consoles which will be stuck in a state of not even being able to play games at 1080p/60FPS?

Only one or two of my friends have a gaming pc.  I have asked them to get one, but our parents are all pretty strict.  The reason I wanted to switch was to play with my friends, but I decided against it because a few are getting some good gaming pc's for christmas.

I already have an Alienware x51, an overpriced overheating gaming "console".  I think that I might want to get back into console gaming though.  I miss being able to play with my friends casually, and I personally found console to be much more fun to play.  Should I keep my desktop and maybe upgrade it, or sell it and get a console?  I already have a decent laptop, Dell XPS 13, which I love, so I would have something to play minecraft and other basic games on.  Enough with the rambling, I get off topic easily.  What do you guys think that I should do?  If I get a console, which one should I get?  I really like the ps4, but the xbone i actually like more, despite all the hate its getting.  I would really appreciate your opinions.

I doubt you'll ever get an unbiased opinion on that subject. Just get whichever you like best.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Dont understand the difference

I play with my friends casually on pc... why does a console make that any different? unless none of your friends have a PC

You made a large mistake buying the Alienware x51 to begin with but you clearly know that. I would get whichever platform you want to play given games and exclusives on and if you want to play with your friends then go with the platform that you have most friends on. If the Dell XPS 13 is sufficient for the games you play then I would sell the Alienware x51 and either get a console you want or sell it along with the laptop and get a better PC altogether. The forum members will definitely help you with figuring which parts to go with at whatever budget you may be at.

Another one of these... love em.

Why do you find console gaming to be more fun to play? You can play casually on PC, convince your friends to join you.

for fuck sake consoles are fucking PC's (CPU+GPU+RAM+HD+M/B) but have their own OS & use Open GL for games

convince your friends to join you.

Considering the financial ramifications that are involved with his friends transferring to PC it would be unlikely that they would when they already have a system that they like. Plus what makes more sense, one person spending money to play with his friends or all of a persons friends spending money to play with him.

@Snevok

The solution here is simple, find the system that you like the most or that the majority of your friends play on and get it. It's unfortunate that your experience apparently hasn't been that good but PC gaming is not a one size fits all hobby, everyone's experience will vary and it's somewhat uncommon(not saying it doesn't happen just saying I don't hear about it often) but not surprising that it doesn't fit with some people.

-bloop-

Hardware wise yes they are, they share similar components but in use they are not PC's. They still utilize the locked down ecosystem that makes consoles consoles. Two things being similar to one another does not make them the Same.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback. I'm not saying I don't like pc gaming, but none of my friends have one. After reading about it, I think the ps4 seems a lot better than the xbone, but the pc is still better. I'm gunna keep waiting and thinking about it, I have a month to decide.

I would go Xbox. The live service is really good. One free game a month, plus most dlc is on xbox first. But the last playstation that I ever had was the original playstation... so I really can't speak for them. I would say it depends on the games you want to play, plust what console your friends play on.

Hehe yeah things have changed a bit from the first Playstation :P

But more on the points you make, only the first one with the Live service being good IE more robust is accurate there. The PS+ subscription for playstation gives you usually 2 free games a month and the DLC first hasn't really been as much of a thing this gen so far. PS4 has gotten a few pieces unique to them however. Xbox getting things early potentially hasn't happened like last gen because they do not have the same market share as the 360/ps3.

Keep your desktop and buy a Wii U.

@Snevok I can get behind this.  As an owner of many consoles (including the Wii U) and a gaming computer, having one of each is pretty well-rounded.

There are many games that are available on all the consoles and Windows.   So for the sake of making yourself available to the most number of games, a PC and Nintendo is logistically the best way to go.   Buy all the Nintendo exclusives on the Wii U, everything else on the PC.

There might be a few games as the months/years go by that are exclusive to Xbox or Playstation, but you'll get the most bang for your buck with CielErrant's suggestion.

(Otherwise, get a PS4.)

Yes do buy the XPS, im not impartial at all. just do it.

I already have the XPS 13, and I love it.  The carbon fiber and aluminum build made me fall in love with it, not to mention the amazing speed it comes with.  Already got it loaded up with Windows 10.
