R9 290 vs GTX 970 vs R9 290x

RiffoSai

Well they all kinda trade blows.

Sometimes the 970 is superior, sometimes the 290X is. The 290 is only slightly behind the 290X and much cheaper. Some, like the Tri-X OC is almost as fast as a 290X reference.

Honestly, they are all very similar and a lot of it here is preference. Do you want AMD or NVIDIA? Do you care about power consumption much, want the most efficiency? (970) Or do you want the cheapest card with still lots of power? (290)

For much less power consumption and equivalent performance to R9 290x/290,970 is the way to go.If you don't need PhysX,then choose R9 290 tri x.
