Which headphones to get?

n0mahd

Well, I'm stuck between these... The Audio Technica ATH-AD700X, Sennheiser HD558, and the Kingston HyperX cloud.

I'm up for suggestions in this price point of $70-150. All I really will use these for are gaming, so the obviously priorities are comfort and a good sound stage. Occasionally, I edit videos but nothing professional. Just a small hobby.

I've been going back and forth between these.. Would really like to hear everyone's opinions.

Kingston HyperX Cloud is a different sort of headphone compared to the Audio-Technica AD700X and Sennheiser HD 558. For one, it's a gaming headset so it also includes a mic. If that's important to you, then get the Cloud. If you have an alternate microphone solution or you don't need a microphone I suggest the 700X. It has a great sound stage and good comfort so it fits your priorities.

Depends on if you want a microphone or not.

AD700X has a bigger soundstage which is great for FPS gaming, but it is treble heavy. So if you like a bit of bass, this might not be for you.

HD558 is more of a natural headphone, good sound stage and somewhat laid back mid and vocal (this is sennheiser's sound signature), there's a good bass extension although as an open headphone, it's not going to be boomy.

For someone who's starting to enter the Hi-Fi world, i'd recommend HD558 as it's easier to listen to
