What cable do I need to run this display?

Tomek20225

I have just bought the LG 25UM65 - 25", 21:9, IPS, 60Hz, 5ms, 2560x1080 monitor, but I'll start using it in December, when I'll buy a new PC, which is closely described in this thread:
http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/257157-what-do-you-think-about-this-build/
I would really appreciate if you reply to it, but let's get back to this topic.
As listed in the mentioned thread, my new PC is going to have an Gainward GeForce GTX 970 4GB graphics card, which has only 3x miniDisplayPort, miniHDMI and Double Link DVI-I. Monitor comes with HDMI cable which I'm never going to see if works, because my actual PC is too weak to run this resolution anyway. If I know correctly, HDMI can't run 21:9 resolution, but while thinking about it, it would be stupid to include the cable that doesn't even work with monitor. I'm confused, so I ask you;
Which cable shall I buy to run this 1080p UltraWide resolution, that would be compatibile with this graphics card?
I thaught about miniHDMI to HDMI v1.4 which is really cheap, but I don't know if works, miniDP to DP v1.1, which is not that much more expensive but I don't know if works either, or miniDP to DP v1.2, which surely works, but is hella expensive. I haven't been thinking about DVI, but I'm being opened for propositions.
Help me, please. It's really important to me, so please reply only if you're sure.
Thanks in advance.

I'm Polish so sorry for any mistakes.

I run this exact monitor with a HDMI from a 290 and it works just fine. So you should be just fine, I've only had problems when using this monitor with my 2012 Macbook Pro over miniDP to HDMI.

My Build

DVI supports 2560x1440@60Hz so you'd be fine with 2560x1080@60, or with an HDMI category 2 cable which also supports up to 2560x1440@60 when using HDMI 1.4 compatible equipment. DisplayPort 1.1a cables are the same cables as 1.2 cables, mDP or no mDP unless it's an "active" cable or "reduced bit rate" (RBR) cable.

So you're saying that this miniHDMI to HDMI v1.4 will work? Thanks ;)

May I ask you about your impressions with this monitor?

I've really liked it so far. The colors and viewing angles are great. The only complaint I have about it is that the height of the display is quite small, but that's just me you might like it.
