Sound insulating case, fitting new window.

Tadgh

I am the proud owner of a Phanteks Ethnoo Pro.

Proud as I may be I have a few issues with it. The biggest problem is that it manages to be incredibly loud with the default fans installed, which REALLY annoys me. The tower sits in my room and blares like a jet. I'm pretty sensitive to this constant noisiness and it's killing me inside. I'm saving to deck myself out with a full set of Noctua fans (5 of the fuckers not including a new heatsink and fans for that) to run at a very low RPM and hopefully keep things chilly. But in the mean time something needs to be done. Is it possible to buy noise insulating padding (like on the R5) and two sided tape? Are there any other glaring suggestions you guys have? (Can't use rubber grommets on these fans)

The next thing really bugging me is the VERY low quality acrylic window on the side, which is worn, scratched, scuffed, poorly tinted, and distorted - as it came out of the box. Could I replace the panel with that of a superior model of the same general lineup? Do they have the same dimensions? Could I replace the window on it's own?

For bonus points: To light the system (as this is my first windowed case, I always thought they looked very very tacky), I bought extremely cheap LEDs, and mounted them to the top of the case (on the interior, facing down, not out of the case ;)). How can I approve upon this setup? If I were to buy new lighting, what would you recommend?

Thank you for your help, much beloved members of the community :)

Try setting up a manual PWM fan profile via Speedfan. I'm sure you'll be surprised with the results.

Solid idea, I have a profile set manually on the BIOS but it's REALLY inflexible. I'll do that :)

For the windows have you considered replacing the acrylic with glass instead, it'll be a lot durable more durable and you can apply a window film to tint it if you want to keep the original smoked look.

As somebody who is 100 % new to case modding, no :) But I think that sounds like a wonderful idea. Can you suggest a place I could buy fitted glass for my case? Or outline a way I could cut my own from a sheet of glass?

Most local glass/window shops can cut glass for you in any shape or size for a fairly reasonable price, just make sure to get a piece large enough so it is larger than the opening for space to attach double stick tape or adhesive so it can be affixed to the panel. For outlining you can either give them a diagram with measurements or have a piece of cardboard cut out in the size of the glass you would like for them to trace.

For mounting if you want it to be as flush as possible with the panel and have no gap between the glass and the panel some silicone from the hardware store works really well just be sure to let it sit flat for a day or two so it cures. As for tape I find 3M exterior double stick tape works well since it's very sticky and is resistant to warmer temperatures from any components.
