Best XLR mic

Hello Linus Tech Tips,

At the moment I use the Audio Technica AT2020 with XLR and I want a new and better microphone with XLR.

But what is the best mic? What do you recommend.

 

My requirements is that it need to be XLR to fit in my whole setup and it need to be better than my AT2020.

 

That's it. Hope you can help me in this big microphone world.

for the price point around the at2020 it is the best so it depends how much you wanna pay, i mean you can get the at4050 but thats like well over 1500 bucks.

What about the AT2020 don't you like? It's really a great microphone.

It take a lot of sounds around it and I don't know how to get rid of it.

My keyboard is behind it and no matter what I do it keep getting sound from it

A different microphone would do the same thing. What you can do is get yourself a boomarm and bring the microphone closer to your mouth.

 

You need to get the microphone away from other sources of sound that you do not want. In your case, your keyboard.

Have been thinking about a boomarm, but will it really help? I use a tripod now. There is nothing I can do to stop it from getting sound from the back? Have seen a lot use this mic without any problems but I keep getting problem about the backgroundnoise like the keyboard

Try to get closer to the microphone, and lower the gain. Give that a shot.
