Water cooling issue.

KE2012

Hey guys, please look at the tubing seal connecting the grill and transport tube in the image below. The mark is actually the rubber splitting or cracking like it is perishing and the split seems tubing deep, my question is this, for about a year old cooler would you expect that sort of degradation of the rubber? It's a Corsair H60 and I'm wondering if it's time I pull it off or if I'm just being paranoid about my rig.

Pretty sure it is mainly cosmetic. The tubes are stuck to the barbs with some mighty powerful adhesive. But you can RMA the cooler if you want. Corsair will let that happen.

Your probably right, just with me being able to get a good fingernail down the crack its a little worrisome, especially as the tube further back in the image is barely showing any age.

Depends on the conditions the cooler is kept in. Rubber cracks more easily with frequent changes in temperature, exposure to UV lighting, strain placed on it, and the type of rubber it is.

I would say try the RMA, and if that doesn't work, put some rubber tape (http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/EMDCI/Home/Products/ProductCatalog/~/Scotch-70-Self-Fusing-Silicone-Rubber-Electrical-Tape-1-in-x-30-ft-25-mm-x-9-1-m-24-per-carton?N=5433135+4294907179&rt=rud) over it.

The tube itself has slid a bit? Or maybe it was like that when you got it out of the box?

It's a dry room with next to no sunlight at the case's location. And cheers for the idea of the tape if the RMA is a pain, hadn't thought of that.

Im nearly 100% positive it wasn't like that out of the box, infact when I last checked the insides a few months back I'm sure it wasn't like that. I also doubt the tube has slid around, under gentle pressure the tube feels solid to the grill which I suppose is a good sign that the tube is intact and on firmly, right?

On second thought i do doubt that the tube has slid. Could just be the rubber around it peeling back. Should be no cause for concern.

That tape is the bomb. I used to use it to "weatherproof" electrical connectors on Navy boats. It comes in a lot of different colors and sizes, so look around. If you do use it, stretch the heck out of it to get it super tight, it can take it.

Either way, I hope you get it sorted out. This isn't the first I've heard of these things cracking, but I can't seem to find the other posts right now.
