Cooling a rad and a case - Help needed

Hello guys,

So I'm planning to buy a 360mm (64mm thick) rad for in a Corsair Graphite 780t. Ofcourse with 3x 120mm fans. But I'm wondering what will be the best setup for those fans. Push or pull? And moving air from outside in the case through the rad, or the opposite way? I want to have positive airlow (3x 120mm intake fans + 2x 120mm optional intake fans | 1x 140mm outtake fan).

And will 3x 120mm fans be enough for a 64mm thick rad? Or do I need to have push pull for more static pressure?

All the help is really appreciated. I'm trying to point out my Christmas build :-)

Kind regards,

Len

@LenGaming First, you should follow your topic.

It depends on what fans you have, if they are great fans like noctua radiator fans it will work great, but if you get bad airflow optimized fans, it won't work well.

I will use the Corsair SP120 High Performance Edition series (I was considering to get Noctua fans, but it will be very ugly in my build), and the industrial ones are to expansive.

A quick litte overview for fan mounts:

- front: 3x 120mm or 2x 140mm

- top: 360mm rad (or 3x 120mm / 2x 140mm)

- rear: 1x 140mm

- bottom: 2x 120mm

If you're only going to do either push or pull, go pull. Makes cleaning the radiator easier. Mind you pushpull will beat it every time.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Yea, I've seen Linus's video about push vs pull.

Is there a big difference in terms of temperature between pulling hot air from inside the case through the rad and pulling cool air from outside the case through the rad?

Yes there is a difference. A big one? Maybe not, that depends on what you're dealing with.

If you internal case temp is only 1-2C over ambient, then no it won't make much of a difference at all. Now if your case is 10C+ over ambient, then yes, you will see a difference.

Personally I always pull filtered fresh air over my rads. It makes cleaning way easier, it keeps noise down, it gives me better temps, and it helps my keep positive pressure on my case.

On my Enthoo Pro I have 5 140mm fans blowing in, and 1 140mm blowing out. Case temps are about 5C over ambient.

Don't get a Corsair 780T, get a Phanteks Enthoo Pro or Enthoo Luxe.  Much better quality cases with more features, better build quality and less expensive.

I have an Enthoo Pro and it's one of the best cases that I have ever built in. I smashed a 420mm rad in the roof, and the cable management is a dream! Love it, and I wouldn't have bought it if it weren't for an LTT review.
