HDD got TOO slow after SSD installation

Tech Lover

hi. i got Samsung 850 PRO as my boot drive. SATA mode in bios is  ACHI, which changed itself after i connected the SSD for first time. i have not changed it. its still that.

SSD works as it should, CRAZY FAST! :)

BUT, i have 3 TB WD green drive from another PC. it did not have any operating system installed on it. it was and is, just the MEDIA drive.

after SSD installation as boot drive, it got SHIT SLOW! even say, opening the drives on this drive takes like 20+ seconds. i have checked from HD tune and other disk benchmarks that its all fine. also cant hear no sound, like that of mechanical damage or anything. its fine.

only issue is it takes too much time to load stuff. some of the programs that i dont use too much, like snipping tool, and others, i have installed on this Green drive, they also take like 10+  seconds to load.

it was fine before SSD installation.

can someone tell me what is the problem here? any solutions?

thanks

How did you go about your windows installation when you got your SSD? I assume everything was on your WD green drive? Did you do a full clean install on the SSD and then copy files over to your Green drive or what?

Your only choice now really is just to backup the files inside, do a format and place files back in.

so you have the current OS on the SSD and an older OS on the green drive as well? If so that may be your issue. You should move all your personal folders to the root directory and delete everything else (including the old windows folder as its not used at all anymore).

Also a little tip if you go into your C:/%user% you can right click > property's > location and move your documents/pictures/desktop to the green drive to save space on the SSD :)

are you timing it with a stop watch? I have to admit I'm having the same problem with my green drive and my blue drive has random performance
