Is it worth the $100+?

Hi all im new here, and good evening/morning/afternoon.

I would just like to know if an i7-4790 is worth the $100 over the i5 4690.
Is the i5 4690 enough for what i am doing?
Im meanly gonna stream games at twitch at 30 fps at 1080p using OBS(Open broadcaster software)
i have an internet speed of 200+mbps
So is it worth it?
Thanks for helping and have a good day

Get the Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3. It's basically a cheaper i7, so you save some money and still get great gaming performance while streaming.

considereing your high internet speed, i guess you would like to stream on 1080p....maybe you will have multiple displays and a lot of programms running...so i would go with the i7

the xeon is a good option, but luke mention streaming features for intel cpus with intergrated gpu like the i7/i5..

i would go with the i7 :) check a microcenter or wait for cybermonday and you might get a good price

the $ difference is worth it, but it depends on what you do wether or not you can take advantage of hyperthreading. The i7 in theory should be better at twitch streaming than the i5.

If you have an i5/i7 you can use QuickSync with OBS, but it will only really benefit if CPU power is at short supply, such as if you were running a G3258 or i3. With an i5 and up, the benefits of QuickSync start to really drop off.
