Do 5400-RPM Hard Drives need Sata-3 connection?

AdmiralWen

SSDs obviously benefit from a Sata-3 6 Gbps connection, but will a traditional 5400-RPM hard drive gain any benefit from being connected to a Sata-3 port as opposed to a Sata-2 port?

Depends on Read/ Write speeds more than the RPMs of the drive.

*To further clarify: Sata2 has a theoretical maximum of 300MB/s which is far higher than most mechanical drives so it should be fine.
