AMD R9 290x Vs Nvidia 970 which one should i buy?

sidewonder
Go to solution Solved by Shrake907,

Wait 'til Cyber Monday, there might be potential deals on 970s.

I have the STRIX and it's damn awesome. Upgraded from a 4 year old 6870. :D

I am in the process of buying a new computer and i have no idea which GPU to buy. AMD has cut their prices, the r9 290x is about the same price as the 970, i just do not know which one to buy!.

GTX 970 is ever so slightly better, and is more power efficient and cooler. Go for one of those :)

The 290X gives higher performance in higher resolution but the downside is the heat and power consumption. It depends on what you're more concerned about. Personally I'll go with the GTX 970. :)

290x will give better FPS at >1080p, If you are going to be playing games that have mantle enabled then thats another bonus.
