Opinions Wanted

Adorza

I don't know a whole lot but I put this together, do you think I did good or what would you change? Please help!

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Adorza/saved/yN9nTW

  • I want to be able play most games at high settings.
  • I do NOT want to overclock.
  • I want the ability to graphic design or video edit.
  • I would like this build to last me awhile without having to upgrade much.
  • I'd like to stay under $2300

Did I pick the right motherboard?

Is there any reason to get windows 8 besides it running slightly faster? (I really don't want windows 8)

Is this 4k capable?

Would I be able to use 3 monitors?

Thanks!

Don't get x99. Buy a 4790k + z97

Don't buy a WD black. Get a 2 or 3TB Seagate barracuda.

Buy a larger SSD, 500GB or 1TB.

Buy an EVGA G2 PSU instead of the corsair.

Get windows 8.1

Get a noctua NH-D15, it is quieter.

Note to be able to get the dual 980's I got rid of windows 7 because windows 10 tech preview is free and stable

2x8gb allows for future upgrades

do you really need an optical drive?

for an extra $10 you can get an h110

ssd's are a waste of money but kept it just in case

4k? yes

hmm read that as a budget of $2400. well get rid of the SSD

Pretty solid for all those things you mentioned.

And yes, you could use 3 monitors. Also, I think this could be ok for 4k, and if you don't like Windows 8, you could just stay with Windows 7, I mean with a build like that I hardly think your OS would slow you down.

If you are only going to be using your ssd as a boot drive then there is no need to waste more money on extra storage, And yes, windows 8 is probably the preferred OS and recommend but if you are a die hard windows 7 user and like the format a lot better go with that. However.. some games do perform a lot better on windows 8.
